Clapping Nightjar

After a beautiful morning journey through the Glenkens we head towards Clatteringshaws Forest. Not long into our first recording of the day a twig-like crack grabs my attention and I turn to Lewis who is wandering deep into the forest to signal for him to hush his steps. I was mistaken however as the culprit was a nightjar who was flying in circles above me clapping his wings sharply together in a performance choreographed to mark his territory.
